A rare shot of an open-air tramcar on the Ragheb Pasha–Mansheya line, dating back to the early 20th century. These carriages were operated during the summer months to allow the cool Alexandrian breeze to reach the passengers; they were also equipped with curtains and wooden shutters for protection against the sun. Note the elegance of the driver, dressed in a tarboosh and an official uniform coat.
