القِبلة الأولى لكل من يحمل بداخله أمنية، حيث تُلقى الآمال في أعماق بئر قديم وسط الأساطير والروايات التي تضفي على المكان
سحرًا وغموضًا أسطورة «بئر الأمنيات».
يقع بئر مسعود بالقرب من شاطئ ميامي في شرق الإسكندرية بمنطقة سيدي بشر، مربع بعمق 5 أمتار وعرض وطول يبلغ متراً واحداً تقريباً، ويتميز بإتصاله بالبحر الأبيض المتوسط عن طريق ممر مائي على مر السنوات، اعتقد الناس أنه إذا ألقوا عملة معدنية في البئر، فستتحقق أمانيهم، على غرار نافورة تريفي في إيطاليا، مما جعله يعرف بإسم "بئر الأمنيات".
تضاربت الروايات حول أصل تسمية البئر، ومن أشهرها قصة عبد حبشي كان يتعرض للتعذيب من سيده الثري، فهرب إلى الإسكندرية واستقر بجوار البئر، وتوفي في اليوم التالي، ليعتبر الأهالي أن البئر “مسعود” لأنه خلّص العبد من عذابه ، وفي رواية أخرى يُقال إن طفلاً يتيم الأم يدعى مسعود، كان يتعرض للتعذيب على يد زوجة أبيه، هرب من المنزل واستقر بالقرب من البئر، ثم وُجد غريقًا بداخله، ومن ثم سُمّي البئر بإسمه.
أما أشهر الروايات وأكثرها تداولاً بين الناس ، فتشير إلى أن البئر سُميّ نسبةً إلى شيخ صالح يدعى “مسعود” كان يتردد يوميًا على البئر للتأمل والدعاء، وعندما توفي بالقرب منه، غرقت المنطقة المحيطة بالبئر خلال الشتاء، فاعتقد الناس أن ذلك كان نتيجة غضب الشيخ مسعود، فأطلقوا اسمه على البئر ؛ كما يُقال انه كان مقبرة شُيدت في العصر اليوناني أو الروماني ، و غيرهم الكثير من الروايات ولكن لم يثبُت صحة أيٍ
منها تاريخياً .
ورغم اختلاف الروايات و القصص المأساوية المرتبطة بإسم البئر ، فهو يظل مقصدًا للزوار، و محل جذب لكل اصحاب الأمل و الأحلام ، كما يجد بعض الشباب متعة في الغوص داخله لجمع العملات المعدنية التي تُلقى تحقيقًا للأماني ، ويشهد البئر زيارة آلاف الزوار سنويًا سواء لتحقيق أمنياتهم أو للإستمتاع بموقعه المميز بجانب شاطئ ميامي، الذي يُعد مقصدًا سياحيًا لهواة الصيد والإستجمام والغطس ، حيث يستغل بعض السباحين اتصاله بالبحر الأبيض المتوسط ، فيسبحوا بالبئر حتى يصلوا إلى وسط المياة.

The first destination for anyone who carries a wish within, where hopes are cast into the depths of an ancient well surrounded by legends and tales that add a touch of magic and mystery to the place. The legend of the “Wishing Well.”
The well of Masoud is located near Miami Beach in the eastern part of Alexandria, in the Sidi Bishr area. It is square-shaped, approximately 5 meters deep, with a width and length of about one meter, and is distinguished by its connection to the Mediterranean Sea through a water passage. Over the years, people have believed that if they throw a coin into the well, their wishes will come true, similar to the Trevi Fountain in Italy, which has led to its being known as the “Wishing Well.”
Conflicting narratives exist regarding the origin of the well’s name, among the most famous being the story of an enslaved Ethiopian who was subjected to torture by his wealthy master. He fled to Alexandria and settled by the well, where he died the next day, leading the locals to consider the well “Masoud” because it relieved the slave from his torment. In another narrative, it is said that a motherless boy named Masoud, who was tortured by his stepmother, escaped from home and settled near the well, where he was later found drowned inside, thus the well was named after him.
The most popular and widely circulated narrative among people suggests that the well is named after a pious Sheikh called “Masoud,” who would visit the well daily for contemplation and prayer. When he died nearby, the area around the well flooded during winter, leading people to believe that this was a result of Sheikh Masoud’s anger, so they named the well after him. It is also said that it was a cemetery built during the Greek or Roman era, and many other stories, but none of them have been historically verified.
Despite the differing narratives and the tragic stories associated with the name of the well, it remains a destination for visitors and an attraction for those with hopes and dreams. Some youths find joy in diving into it to collect the coins thrown in as wishes. The well receives thousands of visitors annually, whether to fulfill their wishes or to enjoy its prime location next to Miami Beach, which is a tourist spot for fishing, relaxation, and diving, where some swimmers take advantage of its connection to the Mediterranean Sea and swim in the well until they reach the center of the water.
