مع وجود الإحتلال العثماني في العديد من الدول العربية بما فيهم مصر ، انتقلت العديد من كلمات من ثقافتهم وأساليبهم في المعيشة وتأثر بها السكان المحليين واندمجت في ثقافتهم ومن هذه الكلمات كلمة «الحكمدار».
حكمدار هي كلمة تركية الأصل ، وتعني الحاكم أو كبير الشرطة المسيطر على إقليم معين ، وكانت تستخدم للإشارة إلى المسؤول الحكومي الأعلى في المنطقة ؛ وهناك العديد من الكلمات التي تحمل معاني قريبة منها مثل "والي"و"باشا".
واستخدمت كلمة حكمدار في العديد من أعمال الأدباء والشعراء منهم من كان يستخدمها أنها إعجاب والآخر إنتقاد و أيضًا في العديد من الأمثال والحكايات الشعبية مما زاد من شيوعها بين الناس .
وانتشر لقب حكمدار مع ظهور الدولة العثمانية وأصبح مرتبطًا بالإدارة العثمانية وبعد سقوطها استمر استخدام اللقب في بعض المناطق ولكن تدريجيًا تم استبداله بألقاب أخرى.

The Story Behind the Word "Hakimdar"
With the Ottoman Empire's occupation of many Arab countries, including Egypt, numerous words and lifestyle practices were adopted from their culture. Local populations were influenced by these elements, which subsequently integrated into their own cultural fabric. One such word is "hakimdar."
Originating from the Turkish language, "hakimdar" translates to "governor" or "chief of police" who holds authority over a specific region. The term was used to denote the highest-ranking government official in an area. Several words with similar meanings, such as "wali" and "pasha," were also employed.
The word "hakimdar" found its way into the works of many writers and poets. Some used it with admiration, while others employed it critically. Additionally, its prevalence increased through its appearance in numerous proverbs and folk tales.
The title of "hakimdar" became widespread with the rise of the Ottoman Empire and became associated with Ottoman administration. Even after the empire's fall, the title continued to be used in certain regions, although it was gradually replaced by other titles.
