في الإسكندرية-منطقة باب شرق تحديدًا في شارع فؤاد.. تفوح رائحة التراث ممزوجة بعطر الزهور ، محل ورد "أو بافيون دي فلوريل Au Pavillon De Florelle" أو بيت الزهور باللغة الفرنسية ، أقدم محل ورد في الإسكندرية ، شهد على العديد من أحداث التاريخ بدايةً من العصر الملكي حتى يومنا هذا ، حيث أن عمره تخطى المائة عام .
أنشأه عبد الحميد السيد -الشهير ب حميدو- وشريكه اليوناني عبده مرسي عام 1920م في عهد الملك الفاروق الأول ، و كانت تلك الفترة هي فترة من التدخل الأجنبي ، فكانوا يملكوا جميع محلات الورود و لم تلقى تلك المهنة أي اقبال من المصريين ، و اختاروا موقعه ليكون في وسط الاسكندرية و هي المنطقة المعروفة بـ"الحي اللاتيني" و كانت موطنًا للقنصليات والجاليات الأجنبية ، ف أطلق عليه البعض اسم "انتيكة الحي اللاتيني"
و بعد فترة من افتتاح المحل عاد الخواجة إلى بلاده و تفرد حميدو بالإداره و أصبح المالك الوحيد له -و هو الآن تحت إدارة أ/ السيد عبد الحميد- نجل المالك الأصلي للمحل ، و كان متميز بحبه الشديد للزهور فحرص على ان يتفوق على محلات الأجانب التي كانت متصدرة عالم تجارة الورود آنذاك ، فكان يسافر للخارج -خاصة إلى هولاندا- لجلب أنواع جديدة من الزهور و النباتات ليثبت تميزه ، و من وقت إنشائه لم تتغير معالم المحل و فقط تم إجراء بعض الترميمات البسيطة ، فهو حتى الآن محتفظ بالتاريخ الذي مر عليه و كل تفاصيله تروي حكايات من ثنايا الزمان و السرور التي كانت تُدخِله الزهور على قلوب المُهداه إليهم بعض الورود التي تحمل الأصالة بين أوراقها .
كان بافيون مقصد للسفراء و الباشوات في المناسبات ليزينوا سياراتهم ، و كان من بين المترددين على المحل الكثير من المشاهير و النجوم و منهم سعاد حسني ، ليلي مراد ، شادية ، أسمهان ، أم كلثوم ، وأيضًا عماد حمدي ، محمد عبدالوهاب ، فريد الأطرش ، إسماعيل ياسين ، كما أن عبد الحليم حافظ قام بتصوير أحد مشاهد فيلمه "موعد مع السعادة" داخل المحل ، ومن أهم زواره الملك فاروق ، حيث أرسل المحل بوكيه ورد للقصر الملكي في حفل خطبة الملك فاروق و الأميرة فريدة .
مر على المحل الكثير من العمال بمختلف الاعداد و مختلف الجنسيات ، و كان من بينهم المصريين و الأجانب من جنسيات مختلفة ، و كانوا يعتبروه مدرسة لهم حتى يتقنوا العمل في هذا المجال فهو فن و ليست مجرد مهنة ، و الهدف الأول لهذا الفن هو تحقيق النتائج التي تبهر الزبائن بمختلف الأذواق و الحصول على بوكيهات لا تقل جمالًا عن اللوح الفنية ، التي تواكب مختلف المناسبات السعيدة ، الحزينة ، زيارة المرضى و حتي قصص الحب و التعبير عن المودة و الإمتنان بين الناس ، و تمر الأيام ولكن لا تنسى ذكرى كل وردة خرجت من ذلك المحل و كانت وسيلة للتعبير عن المشاعر ، أو بداية لبعض القصص و نهاية للبعض الآخر...

In Alexandria, specifically in the Bab Sharq district on Fouad Street, the scent of heritage mingles with the fragrance of flowers. "Au Pavillon De Florelle" (House of Flowers in French), the oldest flower shop in Alexandria, has witnessed many historical events, from the royal era to the present day, having been established over a century ago.
In Alexandria, specifically on Fouad Street, the scent of flowers mingles with the fragrance of heritage. It was established in 1920 by Abdel Hamid El Sayed – known as Hamido – and his Greek partner, Abdo Morsi, during the reign of King Farouk I. This was a period of foreign intervention, during which foreigners owned all the flower shops, and the profession held little appeal for Egyptians. They chose a location in the heart of Alexandria, in the area known as the "Latin Quarter," which was home to consulates and foreign communities. Some even nicknamed it "The Antique of the Latin Quarter."
After a while, the foreigner returned to his country, and Hamido took sole control of the business, becoming its sole owner. It is now managed by Mr. El Sayed Abdel Hamid, the son of the original owner. He was distinguished by his deep love of flowers and was determined to surpass the foreign shops that dominated the flower trade at the time. He would travel abroad – especially to Holland – to acquire new varieties of flowers and plants to prove his excellence. Since its establishment, the shop's features have remained largely unchanged, with only minor renovations. It still preserves its history, and every detail tells a story. Tales from the folds of time, and the joy that flowers brought to the hearts of those who received them—roses that held authenticity within their petals.
The Pavillon was a destination for ambassadors and pashas on special occasions to adorn their cars. Among the shop's frequent patrons were many celebrities and stars, including Souad Hosny, Laila Mourad, Shadia, Asmahan, Umm Kulthum, Emad Hamdy, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Farid al-Atrash, and Ismail Yassin. Abdel Halim Hafez even filmed a scene from his movie "A Date with Happiness" inside the shop. One of its most important visitors was King Farouk, to whom the shop sent a bouquet of roses for the engagement party of King Farouk and Princess Farida.
Many workers of varying numbers and nationalities have passed through this shop, including Egyptians and foreigners of different nationalities. They considered it a school to master the craft, for it is an art, not just a profession. The primary goal of this art is to achieve results that dazzle customers with diverse tastes, creating bouquets as beautiful as works of art, suitable for various occasions—happy, sad, visiting the sick, and even love stories and expressions of affection and gratitude. Days pass, but the memory of every rose that left that shop remains, a means of expressing feelings, the beginning of some stories, and the end of others...
