Streets are named after notable figures by placing signs with the names and dates of those who hold historical, national, and societal significance for various segments of the Egyptian people. One such individual who has a street named after him is Hussein Roushdy.

Hussein Roushdy was born into a Turkish family in 1863 during the reign of Khedive Ismail. His father, Mahmoud Hamdi Pasha Tabouzadeh, was the Governor of Cairo and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, making him part of the upper class and a major landowner. However, Roushdy represented the generation that became more Egyptianized. He was educated in Cairo and later attended Swiss institutes before earning a law degree from the Sorbonne University in France in 1892, after which he returned to Egypt.

Hussein Roushdy joined the Legal Affairs Department of the Ministry of Finance, then served as an Inspector of Foreign Languages at the Ministry of Education for six years. Later, he became a judge in the Mixed Courts, holding the position for about seven years before transferring to the National Courts as a Counselor at the Court of Appeals. He was later appointed Director of the Endowments Bureau.

In 1908, Roushdy was appointed Minister of Justice, and in 1910, he became Minister of Foreign Affairs before returning to the Ministry of Justice in 1914. He first assumed the position of Prime Minister on April 5, 1914, until the British declaration of protectorate over Egypt and the deposition of Khedive Abbas Hilmi II, which led to Prince Hussein Kamel Pasha assuming the throne as Sultan of Egypt on December 19, 1914. With this declaration, Roushdy Pasha’s government ended, marking the transition from the Egyptian cabinet system (Nazaras) to a new era of ministries and ministers instead of the former title of "Nazir" (minister).
