تُظهر هذه الصورة أحد مشاهد الحياة اليومية في وسط الإسكندرية خلال فترة ازدهارها كمركز ثقافي وتجاري عالمي على البحر المتوسط. نرى في الصورة مقاهي ممتدة على الأرصفة، ومبانٍ ذات طراز معماري أوروبي، وشوارع تعج بالمارة من خلفيات وثقافات متعددة. على اليمين تظهر لافتة The St. James’s، وهو فندق ومقهى كان يرتاده عدد كبير من الأجانب والمقيمين في المدينة آنذاك، ولهذا نلاحظ وجود العلم الأمريكي مرفوعًا فوق الواجهة. لم يكن ذلك أمرًا غريبًا في تلك الفترة، إذ كانت الإسكندرية مدينة مفتوحة للعالم، تستقبل القادمين من أوروبا والشرق والبحر المتوسط، وتجمعهم في فضاء حضري واحد نابض بالحياة. كان الجلوس في المقاهي على الأرصفة جزءًا من أسلوب الحياة السكندري، حيث تختلط اللغات والثقافات والملابس والوجوه في مشهد واحد يعكس هوية المدينة الساحلية المنفتحة. الإسكندرية… مدينة كانت تتحدث لغات كثيرة، وتحتفظ بروح التاريخ في شوارعها.. #أرشيف_الإسكندرية #alexandria_archive
This photograph captures a scene of daily life in downtown Alexandria during its heyday as a global cultural and commercial hub on the Mediterranean.
