أول عرض سينمائي في إفريقيا والشرق الأوسط؟
حصل في قهوة صغيرة جنب محطة مصر سنة 1897، لما الإخوة لوميير عرضوا أول فيلم بعد باريس مباشرة.
إسكندرية كانت تاني مدينة في العالم تدخلها السينما، وبعدها بشهور اتصور أول فيلم تسجيلي عن زيارة الخديوي… ومن هنا بدأت الحكاية! و نشأت السينمات في أوائل القرن العشرين ومن
بعض أقدم وأشهر دور العرض في إسكندرية:

🎭 من الأوبرا للسينما... والرجوع تاني
اتبنت سنة 1869 ،في وقت كانت فيه الإسكندرية مركز ثقافي عالمي وفي سنة 1929 بقت "سينما محمد علي" و بعد الثورة اتحول لـ "مسرح سيد درويش" ،و صالح سيف وانلي صمم ديكوراته ودلوقتي هي أوبرا الإسكندرية
الانهيار الثقافي :
أكتر من 40 سينما اختفوا، أو اتحولوا لصالات أفراح ومولات.
لكن لسه في أماكن بتحاول تصمد وتحافظ على هويتها زي :
مترو ،ريو ،أمير ،زيزنيس (رويال سابقًا)
إسكندرية مش بس أول مدينة دخلها الفيلم... دي بطلة كل فيلم.
من أول شريط اتعرض سنة 1897 لحد مهرجانات ريو ومترو النهاردة، السينما كانت دايمًا في قلب المدينة.

History of Cinema in Alexandria: From Fouad Street to Raml Station... the history of cinema in Alexandria is not just about screens and films; it is the story of a city that was always ahead in art and modernity.
The first cinematic screening in Africa and the Middle East?
It took place in a small café next to Misr Station in 1897, when the Lumière Brothers presented their first film shortly after Paris.
Alexandria was the second city in the world to welcome cinema, and only months later, the first documentary film about the visit of the Khedive was shot there… and from here, the story began! Cinemas started to emerge in the early twentieth century, including some of the oldest and most famous theaters in Alexandria:

From the 1930s to the 1950s: the golden age of cinema in Alexandria
The grandest and most luxurious cinemas appeared during this era:
Rialto – 1935 | Raml Station

Amir | Saad Zaghloul Square
And others: Radio, Odeon, Strand, Alhambra.
🎭 From Opera to Cinema... and back again
Built in 1869, at a time when Alexandria was a global cultural center. In 1929, it became “Mohamed Ali Cinema,” and after the revolution it was transformed into Sayed Darwish Theatre. Its interiors were designed by Seif Wanly, and today it is the Alexandria Opera House.
Cultural decline:
More than 40 cinemas disappeared or were turned into wedding halls and malls.
But some places are still trying to survive and preserve their identity, such as:
Metro, Rio, Amir, Zizinia (formerly Royal).
Alexandria is not only the first city where film arrived… it is the heroine of every film.
From the first reel shown in 1897 to Rio and Metro festivals today, cinema has always been at the heart of the city.
