سينما "بلازا" من أقدم السينمات في مصر وليس في الإسكندرية فقط ، حيث أنها أُنشِئت قبل مائة عام ، والتي تقع بجوار دار الأوبرا في شارع فؤاد وسط الإسكندرية
تُعد من أقدم السينمات التي مازالت موجودة بالإسكندرية ، بعد زوال دور السينما التي أُنشِئت في حقب تاريخية متقاربة مثل الحضرة و بورصة طوسون ومقهى زواني.
تم افتتاح السينما في عام ١٩١١ أي أكثر من مائة عام ، أنشأتها العائلة اللبنانية "قرداحي" ، التي كانت تعيش بالمدينة في ذلك الوقت.
أول عرض سينمائي شهدته مصر كان في مدينة الإسكندرية مساء الخميس الموافق الخامس من شهر نوفمبر عام ١٨٩٦ في بورصة "طوسون باشا" مركز الحرية للإبداع حاليًا ، تم عرض فيلم صامت وهو ثاني عرض سينمائي في العالم بعد عرض الفيلم بمقهى الجراند كافية في باريس
كما يُذكَر أن أول سينما فُتِحت في الإسكندرية تعود لدار "لومبير" الفرنسية وكان ذلك في منتصف يناير من عام ١٨٩٧ وحصل على حق الإمتياز "هنري ديللو سترولوجو" حيث قام بإعداد موقع لتركيب آلاته واستقر على المكان الواقع بين بورصة طوسون "مركز الإبداع الآن بشارع فؤاد" و تياتروا الهمبرا ، وكان هذا هو التاريخ الرسمي لدخول السينما إلى مصر من خلال عروس البحر الأبيض المتوسط وبعد ذلك التاريخ بثلاث أسابيع تم افتتاح سينما "ساتتي" بجوار فندق شبرد في القاهرة ثم عقبها بشهر افتتاح سينما أخرى في بورسعيد وكان أول إنتاج سينمائي مصري في ٢٠ يونيو من عام ١٩٠٧ وهو تاريخ تصوير أول فيلم صامت لزيارة الخديوي عباس حلمي الثاني لمدينة الإسكندرية.
والجدير بالذكر أنه في أواخر التسعينات كانت تُعرض ثلاث حفلات بتذكرة واحدة ثمنها ثلاث جنيهات ونصف.
وحتى الآن هي مغلقة و مالك السينما الحالي تركها مغلقة لسنوات طويلة رافضًا بيعها لأحد.

Plaza Cinema
Plaza Cinema is one of the oldest cinemas in Egypt, not just in Alexandria. It was established over a century ago and is located next to the Opera House on Fouad Street in the heart of Alexandria.
It is one of the oldest cinemas still operating in Alexandria, following the disappearance of other cinemas built in similar historical periods, such as Al-Hadra, Bourse Toussoun, and Zwani Cafe.
The cinema opened in 1911, more than a hundred years ago, and was established by the Lebanese Qardahi family, who were living in the city at that time.
The first film screening in Egypt took place in Alexandria on the evening of Thursday, November 5, 1896, at the Tosson Pasha Exchange (now the Freedom Center for Creativity). A silent film was shown, marking the second film screening in the world after the one at the Grand Café in Paris.
It is also worth noting that the first cinema to open in Alexandria belonged to the French company "Lombier," opening in mid-January 1897. Henri Dell'Ostrologo obtained the franchise and prepared a site for his equipment, settling on the location between the Tosson Exchange (now the Freedom Center on Fouad Street) and the Alhambra Theatre. This is considered the official date of cinema's arrival in Egypt, via the "Bride of the Mediterranean." Three weeks later, the "Satti" Cinema opened next to the Shepherd Hotel in Cairo, followed a month later by another cinema in Port Said. The first Egyptian film production occurred on June 20, 1907, the date of the filming of the first silent film commemorating Khedive Abbas Hilmi II's visit to Alexandria.
It's worth noting that in the late 1990s, three screenings were offered for a single ticket costing three and a half Egyptian pounds.
It remains closed to this day, and the current cinema owner has kept it shuttered for many years, refusing to sell it to anyone.
